Prompt

Each year Safer Internet Day is internationally recognized on the second Tuesday of February. Safer Internet Day aims to keep internet users safe by raising awareness of emerging online trends from cyberbullying to social networking and protecting digital identity.

Please prepare creative for a Social Media post, story or reel in recognition of the day, including a few tips to keep internet users and their families safe.

Please label the creative(s) for the type of placement it is being designed for (ie Reels/Shorts, feed, story, etc.)

How would you version the social media content differently between Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn? In 2-3 sentences explain why.

Instagram

Instagram emphasizes imagery over copy and content often relies on memes and humor to communicate a point. Using a video can grab attention, whether a user is scrolling, swiping, or tapping through content, and can entice them to click through a link. Vertical video fills the screen for a more immersive experience that can easily be posted as a Reel or Story.

Facebook

Facebook is known for timely information and content relevant to your interests, for brands this can make Facebook a daily customer support channel and a place to preview upcoming events and special releases. The copy might be read in detail by users. Horizontal and square content work fine, but 4×5 vertical framing maximizes the image size in your feed. By taking up more visual scroll space, content has more color and presence onscreen and text can be made larger than Facebook’s UI text, giving the image a greater chance of catching the eye.

Trends and Optimizations

What trends or optimizations would you incorporate in building/editing the content for this theme?

  1. On Instagram, I am leveraging humor and memes to create content that users will pass along to their friends and connections
  2. On all channels, I use the content to direct people to the company’s website and encourage constructive engagement
  3. I ensured proper image sizing by using templates or specifications provided by each platform
  4. I placed content in “safe zones” specific to each platform and type of content

Review and Packaging

How would you package the creatives to (1) send for approvals (2) distribute to teams for publication?

Ideally, the feedback and approvals process would take place on a content review platform like frame.io, allowing for easy versioning and timestamped comments. Depending on who is giving feedback, it can be helpful to also mock-up the content in the context of each social media platform, especially to see differences in framing and the placement of copy side-by-side.

A distribution process of assets for publication should be kept separate from the review tools, to eliminate the possibility that a draft or unapproved asset is published. Both cloud storage and digital asset management software offer the opportunity to organize and name deliverables in a way that makes it easy to pick the right asset for the right channel.
